Why Cheap Wedding Dresses Are Cheap

Good quality wedding dresses can be outrageously expensive! And in light of the fact that it’s a dress you plan to wear only once, even if it is one of the most important days of your life, they’re still expensive!

The temptation to buy a “cheap” wedding dress is high so when brides-to-be see what appears to be a gorgeous dress online for just $200 it’s very hard not to go for it. After all, why spend $2,000 – $10,000 for a high-quality dress when from what you can see in the photos there is not any visual difference between the two?

That’s why online sites that specialize in cheap wedding gowns have grown so popular. But what’s not quite as obvious as what you can see in the photos on these sites is that a predominance of these cheap gowns come from overseas producers that specialize in cutting every corner there is to save a dime here and a dime there to make the cost to you absolutely as low as possible.

These companies also don’t mind engaging in a little sleight of hand or ad deception as they know they are well outside the arm of American law.

These photogenic dresses almost always cost well under $1,000. Most are under $500. Sure, the buyers know they’ll have to spend a few hundred to get them tailored to the perfect fit and they reason that even with that cost, they’ll still come out way ahead financially.

One problem, though, is that these dresses are so poorly made and often so different from what was advertised that there is simply no way to alter them back into shape.

Many examples and complaints about this have appeared on social media in recent years.
